BEQUESTS
Making a Will is an important part of planning for the future. After you have provided for loved ones, making a bequest is a wonderful way to leave a lasting legacy and make a valuable contribution to our organisation.
Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive many donations and bequests from our members, enabling us to promote and protect the interests of war widows throughout NSW. Every war widow, whether a member or not, has benefited from the efforts of the organisation – and we could not have done this without the support of many benefactors along the way.
No amount is too small. Whatever contribution you make, you can be sure that AWWNSW will use your gift wisely to continue our work.
Types of bequest
In giving to AWWNSW in your Will, you can choose to bequest:
- the whole of your estate
- the residue of your estate
- a percentage of your estate
- a specific amount of money
- a house or property
- various other arrangements that your lawyer can advise on
A solicitor or the Public Trustee will be able to help you with the various wording and documentation required in the preparation of your Will.
How to make a bequest
Should you wish to make a legal bequest in favour of our ongoing work, it is important to use the correct wording to ensure your gift is received by our organisation.
We suggest the following words as appropriate to include in your Will. You may give this wording to your solicitor, or discuss it with your legal advisor.

Wording to leave a percentage of the residue of an estate
I give and bequeath _________ per cent of the residue of my estate to the Australian War Widows NSW Ltd (ABN 24 083 075 914), Suite 1.01, level 1, 9 Help Street, Chatswood NSW, for its general purposes and declare that the receipt of an executive officer at the time, shall be sufficient discharge of my executor’s duty.
